Documenting an unusually shaped mushroom

Bizarre fungi are often difficult to identify from a top view. What appears to be a mushroom cap could be a bracket, puffball, stinkhorn, coral fungus, or another fruiting structure. Shape, texture, scale, and the surface that produced it all matter.

Replay the video and determine whether the fungus grows from soil, buried wood, a log, or a living tree. Look for pores, gills, folds, teeth, slime, bruising, or an opening where spores may escape. A ruler or familiar object in the frame would make the size easier to judge.
